Read Write Prompt #4: Change Up Your Line Length

Aphrodite – Hubris.

The girl sits before the mirror; she watches herself, smiles.
Her lips are painted blue,
Her face bone-white.
She begins: “Mirror, Mirror, who is the fairest of them all?”

The Mirror sighs, but enchantment binds its tongue, and it can answer only one way.
“You are.”

The girl laughs. She moves closer, preening. Her eyes gleam
As she watches herself, a rabbit caught in headlights of her own making.
She laughs.
“Oh, Mirror! I do so love you!”

Aphrodite watches; winter-cold Ice Queen.
Her smile, when it comes, is terrifying. “You only love yourself.”
